More than 10,000 people participate in the Sydney Eid Festival

 The Sydney Eid Festival Association held its Annual Festival on Sunday 27th of September 2009 to celebrate the special occasion of the end of Ramadan, the occasion of Eid-ul-Fitr. A Festive day indeed organized to unite the Australian Muslim Community under the banner of moderation and harmony.

 

Visitors in the thousands rushed down early to Paul Keating Park in Bankstown on Sunday morning, an appointment of happiness, joy and content for all, especially the Children who scuttled towards the fun rides catering for all ages.

As for our respected older generation who were mainly concerned in observing the live performances on stage and in particular the performance of the Islamic Charity Projects Association Band who were certainly in the spotlight.

An Association who played a major role is helping organize the Festival and sparkling the atmosphere of joy through their spectacular Islamic Chanting Band in both languages English and Arabic, food, sweet and clothing stalls, an Islamic Book store displaying the most important and essential books and newsletters and most popularly the famous Islamic Radio Station, Muslim Community Radio92.1 fm.

In collaboration with the Muslim Youth of Truth Association and the local Muslim Community in Sydney, the Islamic Charity Projects Association held a huge festival attracting more than 10,000 people of different races, communities, religions, Religious Imams, politicians and others.

Present at the festival was the Chairman of Darulfatwa Australia Shaykh Salim Alwan, The Hon. Barbara Perry  Minister for Local Government Minister Assisting the Minister for Health,the Hon. Paul Lynch Minister for Ageing,Minister for Disability Services,Minister for Aboriginal Affairs. President of Islamic Charity Projects Association Dr Gayath Al-Shelhrepresented by Seikh Bilal Homaysi,sheikh Ibrahim El Shafei ,the President of Muslim Youth of Truth Haj Rafik Husein, , Hajj malik jaddawi (Director of Muslim Community Radio), and Mr Mohammad Dana (Principle of Alamanah College) AL-ASHRAF MUSLIM SOCIETY OF AUSTRALIA, Muslim society of Liverpool, LAKEMBA ISLAMIC ASSOCIATION, ISLAMIC ASSOCIATION OF AUBURN, MUSLIM WOMEN WELFARE OF AUSTRALIA, THE AFRICAN AUSTRALIAN ISLAMIC ASSOCIATION, THE SUFY SOCIETY OF AUSTRALIA, Islamic Coulter School.

Sheikh Salim ^Alwan congratulates the Muslim community on the blessed occasion of Eid as he went on to reassert Darulfatwa he stands and reminds the community of the promise made by Darulfatwa- the High Islamic Council of Australia saying that: “We totally refuse all kinds of extremism carried through organizations or individuals because we declare all acts of extremism unrelated to Islam despite the false allegations of some who insist on tarnishing its pure image.

The Ministers Barbara Perry & Minister Paul Lynch congratulated the Muslim community on the blessed occasion of Eid, they thanked the organisers of the event and singled the Islamic Charity Projects Association for the great efforts made to serve the Australian community.

During the day Darulfatwa executives presented the Certificates to the students who participated in Al-Azhary Course During the Month of Ramadan .

There was also a live performance demonstrated by the Muslims Kids Club & Al-Amanah chanting Band , and let’s not forget the live drawing of tickets of the participants of the Muslim Community radio 92.1 2mfm completions during the Month of Ramadan. The prizes ranged from tens of  laptops and thousands of cash and prizes, which were donated by the generosity of the Muslim community in Sydney.

It was a day not to be forgotten, a day of joy, peace and laughter, a day of integration and day of moderation. The Sydney Eid Festival is held twice a year celebrating both occasions of Eid-ul-Fitr and Eid-ul-Adha.
