“And verily, in the cattle of camels, cows and sheep, there is something to think about:”

We start in the name of Allah, Praise and thanks are due to Him, and may Allah, raise the rank of our beloved Prophet Muhammad, his kind relatives and companions and protect his nation from that which he feared for them. Thereafter;

Brothers in faith; to reflect over God’s creations is an act carrying a great deal of importance since it reinforces our belief in the greatness of Allah’s Power. Allah the Almighty deploys rains from the sky nourishing the earth after it had been dry. This is a sign understood only by those who take the time to listen with contemplating hearts. Unfortunately those who do not listen with their hearts are as if they didn’t hear at all.

And verily, in the cattle of camels, cows and sheep, there is something to think about as Allah gave us a drink which comes from their bellies. Allah The Exalted gave us from the bellies of these animals milk found in between excretions and blood on the inside yet comes out pure from these animals for us to drink with joy. And here my dear brothers in Islam, pay attention carefully, think with depth and fear Allah in your heart. This excretion is what exists in the potbelly and yet the milk comes out from the cattle pure and palatable to the drinkers. Where does it all come from? It comes out from between blood and excretions by the will of Allah without the milk mixing with them, intact in its colour, taste and smell. Praise and glory is due to Allah the Almighty.

When one of these animals consumes some hay it reaches the belly and then through digestion the bottom of the belly will carry the excretions, the centre will contain the milk and the top will contain the blood, all three although present in sequence do not mix. Allah the Almighty Who is above everything in status and is clear of the attributes of the creation is the One who prevents them from mixing with one another. And the liver is what divides these three matters, and so the blood flows through the veins, and the pure milk flows through the udders, and the excretions remain at the bottom of the belly.

There is a lesson in this to be learnt for the one who ponders therefore think deeply and logically when hearing such lessons. You drink the pure milk which was surrounded by blood and excretions in the bellies of cattle possessing no logic or intellect. The blood and excretions do not merge with the milk which ends up flowing out as pure drinkable milk easily going down the throat.

Allah the Exalted has made this milk a remedy. The Messenger of Allah peace be upon him said what means:”I encourage you to consume the milk of the camels and cows for they eat from many trees holding the cure to most sicknesses.” Related by Ibn ^Asakir and authenticated by As-Suyutiyy.

Brothers in Islam; the aim of today’s speech was to urge and encourage you to frequently thinking about the creations of Allah. For many people who drink the milk that comes out from these animals, it does not cross their mind where it actually came from or how. Their main concern is to fill their stomachs with whatever it desires forgetful of any appreciation or thanking of Allah for this great remedial endowment.

Brothers in Islam be sure after this Khutbah to contemplate the milk that the cattle produces, and the rain that falls from the sky and the fish in the sea, the running rivers, the scent of flowers, and think about yourself for you are a true example of the greatness of the Power of Allah.
