Due to the significant rise in COVID-19 cases in the state of New South Wales, and in fear of a further increase, the state government has implemented health rules and regulations, and preventative measures to limit the spread of the virus.

They include requiring people to perform their prayers in their homes, away from mosque gatherings.
This sends a clear message saying everyone should take the highest level of precaution and be on high alert to not fall victim to this dangerous virus.

We at Darulfatwa, Islamic High Council of Australia, pray to Allah ^Al-Aziz Al-Kareem to lift this calamity from among us.
We also urge everyone to abide by the health guidelines, rules, and measures implemented for the safety of the people and the community.

We reiterate the importance of standing side by side in our efforts to face these extraordinary circumstances and to exercise responsibility to overcome this ordeal.

Also, we call on you to take advantage of these blessed days – the first ten days of Thul Hijjah, the best days of the year, by harvesting rewards for the afterlife with acts of obedience and benevolence such as prayers, fasting, reciting words of praise Allah and glorification to Him.

As well, we encourage you to seek the reward of engaging with us on our social media pages and website for religious lessons and guidance related to the current situation.

In light of the above, worshippers will not be able to perform the Friday congregational noon prayers at the Mosques or prayer halls.
Nor will they be able to gather for the prayer of the blessed Eid Al-Adha this year in mosques. However, the Eid pray can be performed in congregation with your household in your homes.

We ask Allah Almighty in these blessed days to lift the concern and distress and bring back joy and pleasure, with the hope of the situation returning to what it used to be near, free of the restrictions of lockdowns and the spectrum of the plague.

Chairman of Darulfatwa- The High Islamic Council of Australia, His Eminence Sheikh Salim Alwan
