AL-AZHARY SHAREE^AH COURSE Graduation Night 2010
Support each other in goodness and in what increases love amongst you, in this virtuous month of Ramadan.
In doing so, Darufatwa organized another enormous annual Ramadan Dinner in Sydney playing host to many distinguished guests including Sheikhs, The Hon.Barbara Perry, In her capacity as Minister for Local Government, Minister for Juvenile Justice, Minister Assisting the Minister for Planning, and Minister Assisting the Minister for Health (Mental Health):
The Hon.Paul Lynch,In his capacity as Minister for Industrial Relations, Minister for Commerce, Minister for Energy, Minister for Public Sector Reform, and Minister for Aboriginal Affairs government officials and representatives, community leaders.
The evening started with Recitation from the Holy Quran by Shiekh Mahmud Al Azhary,
then the Chairman of Darulfatwa- High Islamic Council of Australia, Sheikh Salim Alwan Al-Husainiyy delivered his speech, saying in it:
Tonight marks the passing of the 10th day in the blessed month of Ramadan and tonight we gather again for the 6th Annual Iftar Dinner hosted by Darulfatwa to celebrate the 10thcohort of Azhariyy course graduates. We ask Allah on this occasion to grant us true regard to one another, and that we may always care for one another on the basis of piety and obedience to Allah.
Darulfatwa introduced the Azhariyy course for the purpose of spreading the correct Islamic teachings in the community and to empower the Imams and the religion teachers with the proper knowledge. These imams set good examples to our children and light up our society with goodness and reverence.
Let me confirm again in this beautiful gathering of family and friends that Islam is a religion of fairness, moderation, mercy and guidance. Our great religion, Islam does not support, acknowledge or tolerate extreme views or ideologies. In fact it is a religion that calls for the protection of the country and its people from the hatred and violence brought about by the extremists. Let me take this opportunity to remind all that we should cooperate and forge strong relationships and work together to achieve safety and security for the future generations.
In closing, allow me to stress the following point:
The commitment of the Muslim to his religion manifested in his performance to the obligatory acts of worship should not be mistaken for extremism and certainly does not lead to it.
Muslim women covering their awrah and wearing headscarves known as hijab are not expressing extremism rather they are just fulfilling their obligation. Therefore we call upon all to respect and understand our religion and stop politicizing the issue.
Finally, we say that the committed complying Muslim is not an extremist, does not approve of Islam being called extremism and should not carry the burden of this label. In fact it is he, the committed complying Muslim who is protecting the society from the extremists using knowledge and conventional civilized methods to achieve that.

I wish to congratulate Darulfatwa for wonderful program that we have just witnessed.
it’s certainly an honour for me personally to join you tonight and to celebrate Al Azhary shari^ah course 2010 graduates and also to be here representing the premier of NSW the Hon. Kristina Keneally,
she has asked me to pass her congratulation On the holy month of Ramadan and her congratulations to Darulfatwa for once again coordinating the course as well as to recognise past and present graduates
Tonight we publicly recognise the organisation and the graduates commitment to good citizenship in our cultural diverse society we live in an age where education is an asset where graduates intellectuals and specialists are a forward to the level of respect for their studies .
However education is not what we are taught through schools or universities but what we learn through our communities our families and through our social interactions in mainstream Australian society its also what we learn through courses like those offered by Darulfatwa which gives students the opportunity to develop deeper understanding of social cultural and religious and political sensitive issues.
Member of the Legislative Council. The Hon.John Ajaka,, who was representing The Hon. Barry O’Farrell Leader of the Opposition he said
It is wonderful to celebrate the joyous occasions of Ramadan with you. It is wonderful to celebrate the occasion wear graduates are rewarded for their very hard work. I am a grate believer as my family installed in me the importance of education. The importance of hard work. And the importance of trying to achieve one personal goals.
I believe nothing comes easy and I believe we have to work for what we want. Its important that in particular our younger members of our community work towards achieving goals, by lifting their self stems up.
So well done and please continue the great work
I would like to comment about what mentioned earlier by the chairman the issue of Burqa bill. I am against the bill. And I am happy to say I’m against the bill. Personally I think it is an outrageous bill it makes no sense to me.
