We thank Allah for the successful collaboration between Darulfatwa Islamic High Council of Australia and the Jakarta Branch of the Indonesian Majlisul-Ulama [Council of Scholars] in the organisation of the International Islamic Conference shedding light on moderation in Islam. This conference will be held in Sydney under the title:
“Muhammad, the Prophet of Mercy and the Messenger of peace”
and the slogan
“and We Have made you a nation of moderation”.
This year the annual Islamic international conference will be held over two days – Sunday and Monday 14th and 15th of Rabi^ul Awwal 1439 H which corresponds to 3rd and 4th of December 2017. The invitation has been directed to Religious ministers and Muftis as well as heads of Ulama’ councils and university professors and their similars from Indonesia, Malaysia, Brunei, Singapore, Thailand, Cambodia, Sri Lanka, Fiji, New Zealand and the various Australian states. That is to affirm that the Islamic nation in general and the Muslims in this country specifically call towards moderation and mercy in peaceful co-existence between Muslims and others, especially in Western societies. It is also to denounce extremism and abhorrent violence, and to disassociate Islam from detestable terrorism, and Muslims from extremists. It will also emphasise that all people,regardless of their positions and responsibilities should stand in the face of these destructive ideologies.
This should be done by collaborating to reject these extreme views and their agendas through all means, and by protecting society with the weapon of knowledge. For with knowledge we can fight ignorance, and with moderation we can fight abhorrent extremism, and through the middle path we protect society, and through mercy we face the detestable violence.
