In the name of Allah- The Merciful

Praise be to Allah The Lord of the Worlds. May Allah raise the rank of Prophet Muhammad and the rank of his chaste and pure followers and companions. Amin.

Allah The Exalted said about His Prophet Muhammad, May Allah raise his rank:

(وَمَا أَرْسَلْنَاكَ إِلا رَحْمَةً لِلْعَالَمِينَ)

This means: “You have been sent [O Muhammad] to the people as mercy to them”.

My brothers in faith,

The messenger of Allah, Muhammad the son of Abdullah, the son of Abdul-Muttalib (may Allah raise his rank) was born on Monday the 12th of the Lunar month Rabi^ al-Awwal in the year of the Elephant in blessed Makkah.

It was related that when his mother Aminah gave birth to him, he landed resting on his knees with his head raised to the sky, the place from where mercies descend. The sky is also the direction towards which supplications are made and is the dwelling place of the angels and is most certainly not a dwelling for God. Allah The Exalted exists without a place, without a direction and without a need for a dwelling.

When Prophet Muhammad was born, with him came a bright light that illuminated all the palaces of the land of Sham. The light was so strong that his mother was able to see the necks of the camels in Al-Busra.

On the night Prophet Muhammad sallallahu ^alayhi wa sallam was born, the palace of the arrogant dictator Kisra trembled, and 14 of its balconies collapsed, the huge bonfire of the fire worshippers which had been alit for 1000 years died out, and the water of Lake Sawah dried up.

Prophet Muhammad’s father died when Aminah was 6 months pregnant with the prophet (may Allah raise his rank). His mother died when he was only six years of age. His grandfather ^Abdul-Muttalib became his custodian. His breast-feeding mother was Halimah Al-Sa^diyah and his nanny was Um Ayman Al-Habashiyah.

Allah The Exalted gave Prophet Muhammad a higher rank than all other prophets. He gave him more of each of the special virtues given to all the other prophets. He gave him the status of Adam; the understanding of Shith, the gentleness of Nuh; Ibrahim’s love to Allah; the articulation of Isma^il; the wisdom of Luqman; the patience of Ayyub; the austerity of ^Isa; the intellect of Sulayman; the medical knowledge of Daniyal; the reverence of Ilyas; the chastity of Yahya and the acceptance granted to Zakariyya.

What more can I possibly say to speak of you O my Master, the Messenger of Allah and the most favoured by the Lord of the worlds. You are the best of the Messengers and the supreme Leader of all the righteous people.

What more can I possibly say in commemorating the celebration of your birth O messenger of Allah, when you are the one about whom is said:

I find any praise of the Prophet falling short
Even when the admirer highly praises you and extols
Allah the Exalted praised him in His revealed book
What value then can we place on the appraisals of mankind.

On this occasion, the Islamic High Commission Darulfatwa would like the records to show that it condemns the atrocities taking place in Palestine today and would ask of the Australian Government to help ease the situation for the people of Palestine.

This is happening to Muslims who embrace the religion Islam which advocates justice and fairness and forbids exaggeration, animosity and extremism. Islam also warns against generalising the judgments of apostasy on the nation and urges Muslims to unite in peace.

On the occasion of commemorating the birth of our dear prophet Muhammad, Darulfatwa Australia invites you all to seek the knowledge of Islam from the righteous educators, to adhere to the book of Allah and to the Sunnah of the Prophet peace be upon him. This will ensure for our nation a path of success. Allah The Exalted said:

[يَا أَيُّهَا الَّذِينَ ءامَنُوا إِنْ تَنْصُرُوا اللهَ يَنْصُرْكُمْ وَيُثَبِّتْ أَقْدَامَكُمْ] {محمد:7}

This means: [O you who believe, if you support the path of piety, Allah will give you victory and will keep you steadfast on the right path.]

The Prophet peace be upon him also said: ((The believers who live in harmony and have mercy towards one another are similar to the human body; when one organ is in pain, the other organs offer assistance providing relief and support.)) Related by Al-Bukhariyy.

I ask Allah to grant us guidance on the true path.
