Ayah 40 of Surat An-Nazi^at means: [But as for he who fears the questioning of the Day of Judgment and restrains his self from unlawful inclinations, then Verily, Paradise will be his abode].

Among the bad inclinations is the love of domination. For example, the eldest brother who takes control of the inheritance and deprives his siblings of their entitlements or a defiant wife who does not obey her husband the obligatory obedience merely for the love of being dominant. This is also the situation of some who engage in business partnership; initially, their apparent condition seems to be that of accord, then they get into conflict and fights. Unfortunately, the love of money, world, and domination has occupied the hearts of many.

Among the evil inclination that is concealed is the love of being recognized and being above others. Some claim to be scholars or Sufis in order to get attention of others, so that people rush to kiss their hands and shower them with gifts and the like. Furthermore, some claim to be righteous and have had Karamas even though such a person has not fulfilled the obligations and has not refrained from unlawful acts.

And amongst them, you will find those who when present in a gathering, instead of uttering the name of Allah properly, they say Alla Alla or Ah Ah. You will find that they use much effort with melodies, moving up and down and moving their bodies, yet, not pronounce the name of Allah, The Exalted, properly.

Taking with their desires, they gather with one another for the love of the melody, rather than gathering with each other to be steadfast to the correct pronunciation. So instead of gathering with one another, saying La ilaha illallah with a sincere intention and correct pronunciation, they do not take any due care on such matters, rather, they dwell on how they sound, move and do types of dancing trying to show as if they are taken away by the moment.

There are other people who do not pronounce the name of Allah correctly. They say subhanalla and al-hamdulilla, they do not pronounce the letter (ha) in the name of Allah, The Exalted.

Others do not mention the names of Allah in the proper way. Such as those who call Allah as the Creating Power. In the Qur’an, Allah attributed Power to Himself, such as in Ayah 58 of Suratudh-Dhariyat, which means: [Allah is the One Who is attributed with Power]. So, it is forbidden for one to say about Allah, ‘He is Power’ or to say ‘He is Knowledge, Will’ etc…. Rather, Allah is attributed with Power, Will, Hearing, Sight, Al-Kalam, Knowledge, Life and Everlastingness. We do not say Allah is power, is knowledge, is will, is love etc.

We must call Allah by His names and not by other than the names confirmed in the religious texts or what the Rules of the Religion states as permissible. Ayah 180 of Suratul-A^raf means: [And Allah Has the names of perfection, so call upon Him by His names and leave the company of those who belie or deny His names].

The love of tending towards the bad inclinations, the love of one’s self that orders the ill doings, the love of conceit, the love of having authority, the love of gathering money under the guise of Islamic Da^wah – are unfortunately the practices of some people nowadays. They delude people that they are gathering money for the orphans, widows and the poor; however, they take this money for their own pockets and for their own benefit. They are keen to own numerous houses and to distribute them amongst their children and wives. Yet, this money was gained under the guise of gathering money for the orphan, widow or extending the mosques and Islamic centres.

My dear beloved Muslims, Allah, the Exalted, informed us about one’s self which orders the ill doing and warned us against following it. Most people have been captured by the worldly desires! So, the one who does not learn the obligatory knowledge of the religion, Satan and his helpers amongst the humans would mislead him.

The knowledge of the Religion protects you; however, you are the one who protects your own money. So strive to acquire what protects you, before striving to acquire what you protect.

And Allah knows best
