Thankful we are to the lord of the worlds, Allah, Who exists without beginning and without an end, without a place and in no direction. May Allah raise the rank of our dearest prophet Muhammad, his righteous followers and companions and protect his nation from that which he feared for them.

Darulfatwa ChairmanThe meaning of what Allah said in the Qur’an in ayah 21 of Surat Al Hashr is:
“Upon hearing the recitation of the Qur’an, mountains with no souls, would crack and crumble, by the will of Allah. Indeed many lessons are there for the people to ponder upon.”

In addition, Al Hakim related that the prophet, may Allah raise his rank said:
Adorn your voices with the recitation of the Qur’an”

In this hadith we are advised to add to our voices the fear of God while reciting the Qur’an. This highlights the importance of making a good habit of it to recite it with care paying careful attention to its diction, its syntax and its rules of pronunciation. Certainly, reciting it in this manner empowers the heart, moves the people and falls sweet in the ears of those who are around to hear it.

Dear guests, allow me, on behalf of your host tonight, Darulfatwa, to extend a warm welcome to all of you in this special gathering of loved ones coming together to recognize deservedly a distinguished Reciter of the Qur’an, tonight’s special guest from Lebanon, taking first place in the Qur’an recitation competition in the Arab world, Hajj Muhammad Ma’rouf Karanouh.
Darulfatwa’s invitation to you tonight is a true application to the honourable Hadith of the Prophet, peace be upon him, as narrated by Abu Dawud:
“Glorify Allah in treating well those who recite the Qur’an and live by its teachings without addition or abandonment.”

Darulfatwa confirms its commitment to following the Qur’an and the honourable prophetic methodology in its practises serving the interests of our nation. This is the path every Islamic organization ought to follow but sadly many have not, and as a result our problems have grown bigger and their nature has become more serious. The outcome is that our societies suffer from ignorance and we have become feeble as a nation giving the enemy the opportunity to audaciously desecrate our lands, violate our rights and occupy our lands and much more. To understand better our position in this matter you simply have to look at what is happening in our beloved Palestine, the land of Al Aqsa, now and for the past sixty years.

We live in a time where some have had the courage to mock openly our prophet, the best of all creations using inappropriate cartoons that depict the prophet in improper ways. This form of expression can serve but reveal the enormous degree of hatred and revulsion they have towards our nation and our religion. Some have even dared label our Qur’an fascist and others have made of it a shooting target for their guns and some have even thrown it in the toilets.

The question I have for all tonight is: Isn’t that enough to convince us all that we need to unite in following the true path of piety. Our religion orders us to bid the lawful and forbid the unlawful; it orders us to refrain from following the abhorrent extremism and violence. It warns us against deeming the masses blasphemous in entirety. Our religion orders us to stand strong as one and to support one another within the correct parameters of the religion.

Brothers in Islam, in conclusion, on behalf of Darulfatwa I would like to renew my invitation to all to form a united front on the basis of righteousness and piety confirming once again that Darulfatwa’s doors are open to all of you, welcomes all of you and appreciates your support.
